The second installment of the Age Based Recreational Skills Clinics, sponsored by NYSAHA, took place at the Lakeshore Hockey & Sports Center in Rochester and was a wonderful showcase of community, energy and passion for hockey.
Although the clinic had a smaller turnout than expected, the participants made up for it with incredible courage, boundless energy and a focus on fun.
A huge thank you goes out to Jason Gerhard, Nicole Siwik, Mark Hogan, Mark Huss and Brian Hubacher for their help on the ice, ensuring the athletes had a positive and engaging experience.
Special recognition is due to Nick Tochelli, the West Section referee-in-chief, who coordinated a Try Officiating for Free event. The clinic saw an amazing turnout of new officials eager to hit the ice and start their officiating journeys.
The efforts of NYSAHA’s President Eric Guzdek were invaluable as he handled check-in, handed out jerseys and t-shirts and even supplied donuts to start the Saturday morning on a sweet note for all the athletes.
Last but not least, thank you to Mark Loj and Rob Kerbs for setting up the ice times at Lakeshore and ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Overall, the West Section Recreational Skills Clinic was a success, filled with skill-building, laughter and an undeniable passion for hockey.
